Mya at the Bat

It’s a beautiful thing when siblings play nicely together. This page is all about Mya attempting to bat, but the unsung hero is big brother Jamin who pitched her countless balls while she insisted he wasn’t doing a very good job, “hitting her bat with the ball.”

The journaling reads: After watching me and Jamin play a little backyard baseball, Mya grabbed the bat and insisted it was her turn. As I got ready to pitch, Jamin said, “It’s ok Mom, I’ll do it.” He tossed the ball toward her gently and Mya gave it a mighty swing, but failed to connect. She promptly yelled at Jamin, “You are supposed to hit my bat with the ball!” Fortunately Jamin was in an accommodating mood and got down on one knee to pitch at her level offering words of encouragement – “You can do this Mya.” Again the pitch and again a swing and a miss. This continued for several pitches until finally Mya managed to tap the ball with her bat sending the ball 3 feet in front of her. Jamin and I cheered vigorously while Mya ran around the yard, declaring it a home run.

Froggy Fun

Welcome to April. If you live where I do, April means rain (of course so does February, March, May, June, October, November, December and January :) ).  My baby girl loves the froggy umbrella her grandma got her.  So much so, she carries it whether or not it’s raining.

The journaling reads …

This is Mya getting ready to walk Jamin to school. She loves her froggy umbrella and walks with it pulled so far down you can’t see her face. We get waves, honks and ribbits from passing cars. And it’s not even raining.

Happy Birthday Mom

Today is my mom’s birthday.  The kids and I celebrated with her earlier in the week.

She is a digital scrapper too. A little while ago she asked me for some swirly text paths for a page she wanted to do – something about words swirling up like steam from a coffee cup.  Hope these will work for you.

Happy Birthday to one of the most inspiring ladies I know.  I’m honored I get to call you mom.

Birthday Scrapping Inspiration

Aaaaaah … scrapping birthday celebrations.  Birthdays rank up near the top of the list of events that belong in a scrap book and yet I find them intimidating to scrap.  Lots of photos – many of crowds of people and poor lighting.  Of course I want to include substantial journaling and somehow capture the personality of my birthday kiddo along with the vibe of the party.  Ahhh the pressure!

Here are a few eye-catching pages to jump start birthday party inspiration.

Four Years Old by jonee

It’s no secret I love large photos, so this page by jonee goes straight to my favorites.  I love the treatment on the main photo – perfect for an outdoor gathering.

Celebrating 5 by bderby

This one is so funky and fun.  The title work is great and the colors are festive, yet boyish and don’t overwhelm the photos.

Happy Birthday by Blagovesta

Loads fun little touches add festive flair to this page.

Ethan’s 5th Birthday Party by paperboutique

The cluster work on paperboutique’s page paired with oodles of balloons, confetti and other party-inspired element bring the party right into her page.

So after browsing the galleries looking at party pages.  I finally got down to the business of scrapping my son’s 6th birthday (which happened 6 weeks ago).

Photo Pile Up

I haven’t gotten around to properly scrapping Mya’s 3rd birthday party (which was in December).  But just looking at all the Minnie Mouse fun photos in a big pile makes me happy.

Here is a sneak peek at my latest kit, releasing this weekend at SSD …

Mini Pies with Mya

It’s been a long time since I’ve scrapped a page, so I decided to take up the Daily Digi’s challenge today.  They even have a free template from Scrapping with Liz (only available this weekend) to make it easier.

I took these photos last September.  Mya had a hard time being the only kid at home when her big brother headed off to kindergarten, so I was trying to come up with fun things for the two of us to do together.  I came across Bakerella’s Pie Pop instructions and we gave them a try – minus the sticks because I didn’t have any on hand.  Turns out they were a great treat as Mya could do much of it herself.
